After BREXIT, there was an upsurge of hate attacks on immigrants, Muslims and people of color in Britain.
The normal human beings of Britain began a campaign of wearing a safety pin on their clothing to show solidarity with targeted people, and indicate that they were safe allies.
How many safety pins until we are safe?
I am showing this work, “Are We Safe Yet?” in an exhibition called “Access” presented by the Northern California Women’s Caucus For The Arts. Click on the image to see other views of the sculpture on my website.
I will also be participating in the panel discussion that precedes the opening reception.
I hope those of you in the Bay Area will be able to attend. Please see the link to the Arc Gallery for additional details.
Thinking about the issue of access has brought up a lot of thoughts, which I hope to expand on in another post.
